O Stanley Cup

The original Igloo will soon be toppled and left only in old photographs, but the new home of the Pens, the Consol Energy Center, is a fine improvement from any angle.

Not too long ago Malkin was singing O Stanley Cup and Sid was hoisting the hardware himself.  This season sees the Pens playing like an elite team.  Sid has a 22 game point streak, the defense is damn good on the p.k. and the third line carries them to the Winter Classic in nine days.

Tonight the Caps are facing the Pens in a tune up for next week's Classic.  New Year's Day I'll be jumping in the Mon in the morning and then heading to the North Shore for the game.  It's gonna be a rare treat to see a game like the Winter Classic.  Seeing it in Pittsburgh, perfect.  The whole country gets to see the 'burgh.
